Dishwasher distress!

Anyone else notice that lately their dishwasher is leaving a
chalky film all over their dishes? I don't know if the water
company is using harder water, but for several months
now my dishes don't look clean when they come out of
the dishwasher. I was talking with Autumn and Alisa
about this a few weeks ago, and Alisa told me about this
product called Lemi Shine. I ran out and bought it the
next day.You have to run it through your empty
diswasher first, and then after several uses I noticed
a big difference. I've used it for a few weeks now,
along with dish detergent, and my dishes are now
coming out clean! Yea! It's not cheap- I think it was
about $4 at Walmart for a small container that lasts
a couple weeks. It was worth it to me. Check out their
website for details

Thanks for the great tip Alisa! Just thought I'd pass it along!

Yeah, we've been using LemiShine for several months now. It's the only thing I've found that gets them clean with the water out here. But I agree it is SO expensive so if anyone finds it for a great deal somewhere (I have not, about 4 dollars at Frys too) let us know!

Ok, so after having a horrible experience with even the Cascade brand. I soaked my "Chalky" dishes overnight in high concentrated vinegar water over night. Got them sparkly clean! So now that they are clean, I can use the same detergent, but I just pour about 1/3 cup of vinegar at the bottom of my dishwasher jsut before turning it on, and I have not had a problem since. So I don't know how pricey the Lemon-shine is, but the vinegar is pretty cheap. And it does not make your house or dishes smell like vinegar, in case you were wondering.
I tried sticking my "chalky" dishes in a wash with vinegar first, but that didn't work. The previous washes had just put too much build up on them. I had to actually soak them overnight to get it all the build up off. But once you do that initial soak, you won't have a problem!
