Parking FYI

Today when I was dropping the kids off at Joy School, there was a motorcycle cop circling around a van parked on the street. He was asking me about the van and how long it had been parked there or if it was parked there frequently. He told me that they have been getting a lot of parking complaints and he was out today going through the neighborhood giving parking tickets. He ended up giving the van a ticket. I saw him later giving another car a ticket. While I think the the "no parking on the street" rule here is pretty stupid, I'm going to be more careful now because I don't want to get a ticket. He was looking for signs that the car wasn't just there for a few minutes (like sun visors in the windshield). Just thought you all might want to know that they are taking this rule seriously and it could end up costing you or your friends more than a HOA fine.

My neighbor ended up coming out and talking to the officer. He was really nice and let her off the hook. BUT he had started writing her up for parking w/i 25 ft of a stop sign (even though it was in front of her house) and parking illegally (facing the wrong way on that side of the street). The ticket could have been $85-$100. Just to add a little info! Safe Parking!

Thanks for the heads up!

I didn't think the police could give parking tickets for violation of HOA rules. Parking the wrong way and to close to the stop sign are different. But still good to know they are paying close attention.

I don't know what they can and can't ticket for. I wasn't trying to say that the police are enforcing our HOA rules, I just know that a lot of people (including me) just park however is convenient and not really think anything about it. But, I'm just going to be a little more cautious about where and how I park when I'm not just running into someone's house.
